Mariscal Sucre International Airport is located in Quito, with the airport code UIO. As the main airport in Ecuador, it was named in honor of Antonio Jose de Sucre, a Venezuelan military hero who played a crucial role in Ecuadorian independence. Situated in the outskirts of Quito, specifically in the eastern suburbs of Tababela. The airport is also known as Tababela Airport. Moreover, it is just 25 kilometers from the center of Quito. The airport was inaugurated on February 20, 2013, marking the closure of the old Mariscal Sucre International Airport.
