2 Day Otavalo Market Tour & Surroundings Tour.

Visit the beautiful Province of the Lakes Imabaura,  with this customizable 2-Day Otavalo Market Tour. Visit Otavalo and the Indian Market and make an overnight at a modern isolated country house. You will also get off the beaten path towards an alternative road to Cuicocha or Zuleta Town.

Start your Otavalo and surroundings trip early in the morning.  Leave Quito City behind and head towards Imbabura. The road offers a lovely view passing through Calderón and Guayllabamba calleys. Catch a sight of snowcapped Cayambe Volcano (5,790 m.), the world highest point crossed by the Equator Line. We will make short stop here to get a closer look to local culture an try the famous delicacy salt biscuits with “leaf cheese” and “manjar”.

Taita Imbabura mount and the largest lake in Ecuador, San Pablo, will greet you to the province. .

Afterwards, enter Otavalo City, home to the Indian Market (takes place every Wednesday and Saturday), an ancient tradition and cultural exchange site among the Otavalo community.

After spending he day getting to know the local culture, head towards country house El Aliso, a cozy spot among mountains. El Aliso fuses the ancient practices of traditional haciendas in the Ecuadorian highlands with the modern comfort of a country house.  You will have dinner and sped the night at this peaceful spot.

The next morning you can customize your itineray. You have the option to just chill at the hacienda. There are various short hiking trails in the surrounding area.
You can also choose to head towards Cuicocha Lagoon in though an alternative path and enjoy the landscapes of the area before heading back to Quito passing through peaceful Cotacachi Village, famous for its leather and meet the local craftsmen.

Another option is to head back to Quito passing though La Esperanza and Zuleta, two of the most traditional and artisanal towns in the province

You will be back at you hotel of stay in Quito on the late afternoon.
