Santiago Island Galapagos: This island has a volcanic origin, that is one of the features that make it famous. The island’s geological formations amaze all volcanologists who visit Santiago. Its pahoehoe lava flow formations, which date back about 100 years, represent a perfect example of geological time with their whimsical shapes. Nowadays, many of these lava formations are covered by endemic vegetation, creating a striking contrast with the oceanic landscapes. Additionally, Puerto Egas Beach, located on the northwestern side, features a stunning black beach with eroded rock formations in the background. Here, you will find a trail that crosses the dry interior, where you can observe the remains of a salt-mining enterprise.

Wildlife to see

Santiago Island Galapagos: Lava formations covered in mollugo plants that starting to grow here also you will find a mangrove forest and a lagoon with flamingos, the shore edge offers the posibility to see invertebrates organisms, including sea-urhcins, octopi and starfish. Fur seal grottos, sea lions, marine iguanas and Galapagos hawks constitutes a great part of Santiagos fauna.
