El Carmelo Mindo is located only a 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Quito. It`s a family run business, established in 1994, whose main goal was to build a lodge where guests can enjoy nature while respecting and protecting the environment.

El Carmelo de Mindo has a 74 acres extensión in which area their guests will have the opportuniy to visit different and diverse atractions such as the Mindo river , the fishing lagoon, 1,5 miles secondary forest pathways that takes you to their butterfles farm and el Carmelo moutain, a great placer for watching all the Mindo area.

At the El Carmelo de Mindo Lodge, you can birdwatch, swim, hike, fish, explore the cloud forest trails, or simply relax. Most guests stay there for 2 or 3 nights.

The lodge is unique place for families with children, young traveleres and everyone who wants to know more about the Mindo cloud forest, his plants, animals and the amazing landscapes that only Mindo can offer.

Ziplining. El Carmelo de Mindo lodge offers a unique experience to our guest to zip trough the Mindo Nambillo Cloud forest. We have 7 ziplines that goes trough small mouintains, trees and pools. Besides, El Carmelo Zip lines offers visitors the opportunity to observe, and appreciate tropical vegetation from different vantage points. We use a secure and special gear for this activity and we work with the best and professional guides of all the Mindo area.

Tubing. The Mindo river is the ideal location for a different and unique experience. White water Tubing, without a doubt, is the main atraction in Mindo valley. We offer this activity to all our guests who want a experience new adventures in the water of the Mindo river. El Carmelo de Mindo has the special equimpment for this activity, and has the best native guide, which is importat for the safeness of our guests.

Horse trips: Approximately takes one hour to go through several paths of the Mindovalley. During this journeyyou can visit the town of Mindo and its surroundings. Thetime and duration will depend on the weather and the client.

Birding Tour: Mindo is a privileged and classified internationally as a majorlatinamerican sites for birdwatching.Mindo has approximately 450 species of birds,tanagers stand, cocks rock, quetzals and hummingbirds restless. Ourtour includesMindo native guides, which have a quality and quantity knowledge that definitelyhelps you learn more of these beautiful animals.

Excursion to the Nambillo river waterfall: The Nambillo waterfall is one of themost visited natural attractionfor tourists in Mindo. This is a waterfall that is approximately two hours from the lodge. On the way to this site, our guides are responsible to inform our visitors the wildlife sector and why the importance ofprotecting forest MindoNambillo. Once you reach the waterfall, you will have theopportunity to jump from different points or swim in a small perches. As an activity that requires additional physical effort, not recommended for children under 8 years and senior age. According to weather a part of this journey you can drive there.
